About my practice

"It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."  -Hippocrates

I am passionate about health and healing. I strive to help my clients both achieve and maintain optimum health.

  • Highly Individualized Care.
  • Deep listening and respect for my client’s healing process.
  • Getting to the root cause of health issues.
  • Addressing current health concerns and looking ahead for my clients with prevention in mind.
  • A Functional Medicine approach to care: a systems-oriented approach, which engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century.
  • A wealth of tools for addressing health and resolution of symptoms: homeopathy, gemmotherapy, herbalism, vitamin supplements, medicinal diets, and nutritional guidance.
  • Healthcare Independence - I strongly believe that every individual and family can have a variety of effective tools at their fingertips to address common illnesses and injuries themselves. I strive to educate and inform my clients about all the alternative care methods available to them - and give them back the power to heal themselves.
  • Current knowledge - I am a tireless learner. I truly love to stay abreast of the current research and evolution of alternative medicine and nutrition in all its forms. I am always taking my practice to the next level by studying the ever-expanding body of homeopathic knowledge, participating in seminars for treatment of specific conditions, educating myself about the latest research for varied approaches and following the clinical results of my colleagues to better serve you.

Lizzie Martinez MA, DHom, MHom, CCH

homeopath - healthcare practitioner - advocate - educator - mom

Lizzie holds both a Diplomate and a Master’s degree in Homeopathic medicine. She is also Board Certified in Homeopathic medicine by the Council for Homeopathic Certification. (CCH)

Her journey to become a homeopath began when she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis at the same time as the birth of her child with special needs. Told there was nothing to be done and that she would eventually lose her thyroid, she went in search of other methods to heal herself, and her child. The results she saw for both herself and her child were so effective, she changed careers and went back to school for seven years of education and training - four years in the academic program for homeopathic medicine and three years in clinical supervision for a Master's Degree.

A mother of three, Lizzie has used nutrition, homeopathy, herbalism and vitamin supplements with her own children for over a decade.

A life long community organizer, Lizzie is passionate that community is medicine. She has co-founded and served on many organizations from educational initiatives and cultural events, to health awareness and political reform measures. She has had several articles published in national magazines on topics such as parenting, self care and community involvement through cinema.

Lizzie is passionate about Healthcare Independence. She speaks regularly on topics such as treating and preventing acute illness at home, trusting our intuitive wisdom as parents when caring for our children, and utilizing the basic tools of homeopathy for family and individual health.

Lizzie has lived in Austin, Texas for twenty five years. She has deep relationships with the best practitioners in the area, and can refer with confidence to help her clients access a variety of approaches for complete care.

Lizzie enjoys Yoga (which she has been practicing for fifteen years) travel, dance, playing her guitar, and spending time with friends and family. The daughter of a physician, she has been greatly influenced by her father's life of service to community medicine. She is fluent in Spanish.
